Just because there is no color means there is not any effects.

Overall, I like it. You might want to look into adding a border, trying to add color (but thats not exactly important), and looking for more motion/blending.

Looks like a desaturised stock with a poorly done lightsource and some badly positioned and styled text slapped on top.

The light source doesn't fit the signature as it's positioned wrong, the light source is coming from down/mid-right not from the left, it's also way too intense.

The stardust effect works, but it's overused in my opinion, and also shouldn't really overlap the focal as much as it does.

As Dave pointed out, work on flow, define a focal point and work around it, even though it's your first in photoshop it's still very, very basic ;x

Flow: Try to make you character be one with the background have the colors compliment you character. Try to make it a neat as possible.

Motion: Which way is your character moving. If you have a render that seems to have some sort of motion try to identify it in your creation.

flow and motion are somewhat the same thing..

flow is how well the signature moves and 'flows' to blend together. usually, there's a spot you generally look at (focal point) and things around that move.

iunno, it's hard to explain.

Why are people saying that if it had colour it would look much better D:
Sometimes stuff look BETAR without colour...

The light source should coming from the bottom right corner or in the middle. Its really boring and theres no flow. You did a good job blending in the render, but it seems too big and not much of the background and effects are visible D:

Suppose you have a render of someone pointing to the top-left of the sig. An example of good flow is having the effects also going to the top-left of the sig. An example of bad flow is if you make the effects go the the opposite direction, top right.

ftw. Yeah, umm make some nice flow, well it's not really blending in well. try smudging the background for some better effects.

Fairly dull. 4/10. But it's your 1st try. I tried making a siggy with photoshop for the 1st time yesterday, and it was a lot worse than yours. Practice makes perfect.

Its not bad. Its not bad at all.. could even be considered to be on par with some guys that have been in photoshop for a while. Keep putting that much effort into work, and believe me, when you get a lot of people commenting and saying well done, youll appreciate just how much fun it can be.. and youll want to do more.. keep it up.
