Picture is true. The sad part is the boners people have for this film and it will further encourage the CGI and 3D garbage in cinema.

The success of Avatar resoundingly shows how fickle the crowd is. It is nothing more than science fiction fluff flaunting digital technology, which ultimately has been passed off under the veneer of a "groundbreaking film". What a sugar coating for a postmodern travesty that tries - in vain - to inform the audience and portray a story of human greed and corruption; which, in turn, is unconvincing due to the rudimentary and vacuous plot, corny one-liners and shallow characters, which impede any effort on the audience's part to connect to the film.

Avatar is an exhibition of dehumanised cinema, lacking in emotional depth, soul and humanity; and Cameron is gravely mistaken if he believes his eye candy is an adequate substitute for any of that.

F00sh is hateful of the movie because he doesn't like CGI. The plot was predictable, done before, but the point of a movie is to escape to another place/time/frame of mind and that movie does that in aces.

Funny how the protagonist's initials in both movies are JS

I didn't escape to any place. Everyone's all hyping up still. And I can't believe they raked in 1 billion+ USD since the release. Garbage I say.

I will be the first one to admit that the CGI is beautiful but CGI is not for me.

yeah, it has made more than a billion USD, but that doesn't make it one of the best selling movies. Gone With The Wind is the best selling movie in America. It sold 200 million tickets. If they were going for today's prices, it would be well over a billion just in the USA. Ticket's for Avatar can reach $18 a piece. it still has only sold about 50 million tickets.

Yeah, movie tickets here are 12$ even with the Student discount ;-;. Lame crap.

Well hell, that's about the fifth or sixth time I've heard that. Difference is that Pocohontas was not only real, but she didn't talk to tree's, she never fell in love with John, and before the end of her life, she went back to her tribe as a christain and her whole tribe was christain by the time she died. So yeah, you can say it's like the movie but was so inaccurate it means nothing, excpet that disney lacks the potential to make a real movie without basing or stealing it from someone else and twisting it to make it a kid's story.

While we're on the subject, I've never seen a MORE realistic movie than Avatard!

The more I think about it, there are four threads for avatar here. Seems a little much.
