Sorry that it was a bit much but ultimately it's very very early drug discovery :)
I followed the money for my PhD on the basis that the quality of scientific equipment can influence the quality of my work, although the skills I wanted to develop and my interests also suited pharma pretty well too.
I've just sent you a friend request because you never know. :( It would feel weird to get a permanent web error for the forums.

Had to be done in case someone manages to connect many unrelated dots :P
My work contains lessons for covalent fragment drug discovery, rather than a new theraputic molecule. But sometimes that's how 'baby' fields develop sometimes.
Don't worry, I won't ever forget where I came from. TPPC's a site I won't instantly forget because Christmas Day and August 2 are days drilled into you for events :P
However, I am so worried the site will be gone one day and I'll lose the ability to stay in contact with you.

Lol, are you chillin or busy, pick one ;)

Good to see you're doing fine, I'm aight too. Just a bit overworked these days. Adopted a dog recently and it's been tough balancing work and life but I'm still alive so that's a plus.

Maybe I've got more than I think I do - I feel kind of the same as in 2017-18 when graduation wasn't that far off anymore. But maybe I just need to figure my professional situation out a bit more with a future view. Agreed with all of the other points though :) We definitely need to keep sane, especially since Covid looks to present a very long endgame. I enjoy hearing from you too ^_^ I actually hope to have the bulk of my thesis written before the end of the year but I'll keep it in mind. xD (in case anyone else is reading this: this is an actual joke)

The main thing is to not forget who has shown their true colours. Forgive, sure, but don't forget.
That is true, the jobs created in future are likely to be technological (especially with Covid happening). My PhD is a weird one. If it was at uni completely, it would be a bit alien to most employers. But I've been at a company now for 2+ years, just not doing any confidential work for them. So who knows how it will be received. But you're right that project management is pretty much yours, and all of the skills coming with it. I'm really good at Python and PHP and I've actually used the former in my PhD for data visualization so it's just about building on that. JavaScript is much tougher but I hope you're progressing OK with it - hang in there and try to practice coding different bits from scratch, it really does help!
Sorry I'm a bit late with this, I basically work on uni stuff all the time right now. o.o'

It's a little bit like all the other groups of people who don't accept parts of controlling the virus, like vaccination. It's just frustrating. :( We just had the worst day so far for Covid in the UK. Concerning times.
I think I want to move towards software or web development. My friend works for a company that does coding tasks for the websites of clients and I like what I've heard about the job itself. Alternatively I could go into other tech areas like cyber security. The only issue is trying to translate my PhD to why they should hire me. Luckily I have some strategies like using virtual learning environments to continue to improve knowledge in one language that I could show proficiency in like PHP.

It's sad that your employer doesn't take it very seriously; of course, it's only when he'll see someone close suffer in ICU that he'll wake up about it. It might be too late at that point. x.x
Unfortunately I appear to be "banned" from the lab right now due to Covid cases rising in the district. Let's hope it doesn't delay me finishing in 2022 by too much. I guess I'll be a scientific Dr but I might not wear the title much as I hope to move towards technological work instead. :o

I'd say my name became an outdated joke over time but honestly it was already outdated when I made it.
