I take it there's no social distancing between actual tables currently? Sounds like things should be notched up soon for your own safety. I really hope you can dodge Covid. We have the new variant here which has brought on lockdown 3 as of tomorrow.
I'm glad you enjoyed it because life slowed down. I enjoyed it for the same reason. Overall it wasn't too far off my regular type of Christmas. You're right, the PhD positives are continuing to be paid and being kept very occupied whilst the world continues to sort itself out.
That made me smile, thanks xD it's always great to hear from you too! Don't leave for too long. :)

Yeah, your system is not only expensive but really drawn out (imo) even compared to the UK university system. We often say over here everything is about money in the US and it certainly seems like that, although the UK will be going a similar way I think.
Interestingly enough we went back into lockdown again in November which I personally attribute to people going back to school more than anything else. I'd have really loved this model of education just to avoid people and that seems to be the key to dealing with the virus!
Christmas was different here for quite a few of us as a geographical lockdown was announced for London and SE UK days before the big day.
Hopefully your Christmas was OK? And happy new year to you.
For me, this year won't bring much change as I'm still "stuck" in my PhD programme until 2022 Q1. I have a few people to chat to about things though.

Fair enough, I can understand those reasons. Am I right in thinking you're a US citizen? In the UK our fees aren't low, but definitely nowhere near as bad as top US universities. I think physical learning forms might become a thing of the past for a fair few subjects anyway, but I bet unis won't compensate their fees much. :(
I'm sorry you're struggling with the problematic world right now. I can relate to that a lot.
My best advice would be to think about what life you do want after Covid is over and just keep building towards that, whatever it may be and in whatever quantity. I hope you've got someone to talk to if things get too much?

It's so true though, it's like a circadian rhythm that spirtually beckons one to log on :P Thanks. :) I think it might be nice to spend a bit more time here, even if it's just to chat to a couple of people. It's given me an energy I didn't know I needed.
Aw, well, just keep growing yourself and maybe it'll come naturally. It might mean it's not quite your time yet. Are you at college/university? Will do - being half-way through, it's not clear the full impact of Covid on my own study so it's not clear if I'll be given an extension or not. I would prefer not at the moment :(

Haha, konichiwa! I've missed you too. :) I'm so glad to see you were recently active too. Even though this place is a fraction as busy as it was, it's cool to still see lots of familiar names. And of course, yours brings joy!
Life is interesting these days. I have no idea how far to update on but I finished my degree and chose to start an industry-based PhD, which has been... not great. Hopefully I'll finish in 18 months'ish and find something else to pursue instead of bench chemistry. :)
How have you been? I notice you recently turned 22. Congrats! I honestly hope you enjoy every day of your early 20s. Being 20-22 was the best in my own experience.

Hello! Thought I'd pop a line since I am here. Hope you're doing well.
Thanks for all of the times we shared - I was only 24 years and 3 months old when I learned who Chuck Norris actually was. xD

I'd say my name became an outdated joke over time but honestly it was already outdated when I made it.
