Want to play pokemon on the laptop

so anyone have any guides on the best way to obtain any of the pokemon games on the laptop and how id play them?

also id like to be able to trade say i wanna play pokemon blue, i can trade with pokemon red to get all the starters and all the pokes i cant catch in pokemon blue?

Actually I think its only illegal if you dont actually own the games :/

It is only legal if you personally make the backups of your games and play them.
