A lot of the slowdown recently is due to some unoptimized database tables. I started with the PM system, which is taking a lot longer than expected.
So until later tonight, Private Messages will be offline. In the meantime, go visit the chat by logging into the RPG and clicking the "Chat Room" link on the bottom right and following the instructions. Remember, it's perfectly OK to have a chat window open and still play the RPG as normal!
