Torch Relay

The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will Travel through Mississauga
Join in the excitement!

Olympic Torch Relay
On Saturday, December 19, 2009, the City of Mississauga will host the Olympic Flame on its way to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Games. The event will take place at the north side of Mississauga Civic Centre, Princess Royal and Living Arts Drive from 10:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will begin its 106-day Canadian journey on October 30, 2009, arriving in Vancouver for the opening ceremony on February 12, 2010. The route will be the longest domestic Torch Relay in Olympic history, stretching over 45,000 kilometres through Canada and passing through more than 1,000 communities. Over 90 per cent of the Canadian population will be within an hour's drive of experiencing the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.

I'm pretty excited for this. In about 15 hours and 43 minutes the torch will be relayed through Mississauga. I'm sick, so I won't be able to go see it live. I will definitely be watching this one TV.

Orly? That's cool. I wish I'd be able to go see any of it. But it will probably be too much of a hassle to get there. I hope there will be another Olympics in Canada during my life. xD

There probably will...in Vancouver again, of course!

But anyways, it'll be pretty awesome. Too bad my school isn't letting me off.

Liez! Nah, you have to make your school accept the fact that you're going to see the Olympics.

Aren't the Olympics in 2012?
The Beijing Olympics took place in 2008, and if I am not wrong Olympics take place after every four years.

I remember in Halifax when Sydney Crosby had the torch. He couldn't even run...he had to slowly jog because people wouldn't get out of the way. Also, a guy in my Oceans class was one of the torch bearers. All in all, it was pretty awesome.

Also, since Calgary hosted the Winter Olympics in '88, it's more than likely that Canada will have the Olympics sometimes again within the next 20-30 years.

Prince of Persia: The Winter Olympics are held every four years, as are the Summer Olympics. It's just the way they're shecduled that they alternate every two years.

Example: Winter Olympics are in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, etc. Summer Olympics are in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, etc.

That's pretty cool Camden. I can imagine that. Haha.

Well, I'm pretty lazy to get out right now. Plus I'm starting to feel lightheaded again. :(
Also, I don't think it will be that special here in Mississauga. :/

No each Summer and Winter Olympics take place every 4 years. So the 2012 Olympics would take place in the summer.
