is it possible to win a gracidea with low level pokemon? i tried using lv 5 spiritomb but shaymin knocked it out before i could use confuse ray, even though i had x speed attached

nope.
Dont use x speed, shaymins level is too high. You have to hope he uses Cross Chop/Pyschic/Hyperbeam.
