use overlay or change the opacity or fill.

that grid is just some lines, but u can make a pattern by yourself, or find one online that has something like this. if nothing comes up, i'll make one for you. then in the end, merge all the layers, then double click the picture layer, and go to pattern overlay and then find the pattern and then adjust the opacity, and you're done.

cause i remember when i just started using photoshop i was just messin around with it and i pressed a button and that grid came up :D
the reson i wana know how to make that grid thing is because so i can find out an easer way to place text in the right place
or can u tell me how i can put text in the right place :D

oh well you mean the show grids button? thats only gor guidelines, it wont stay on your picture.

i've been using it for about 1 year and a half now.
and it should be on the top, lemme upload a screenie.

actually, you need your text to follow the flow of the siggy, and blend in. it shouldnt like follow the flow exactly, but like blend in just enough to look good. and try www.dafont.com for some nice fonts. try new fonts on different sigs.

well try and fit the best font with the.. umm.. theme of the siggy. like depending on the shapes and stuff, like if it's a sharp sig, use a sharp font and if it's curvy, use a nice rounded font. then i recomment, going to blending options for the text, and doing

"down shadow"
"1px stroke"
"overlay"

these the basic ones to blend the text in.
