I have 4 GB :D

Question: 4 GB seems pretty fast, thinking about turning it into 8 GB. will i notice the difference?

Fatal

not really, the difference from 4->8 is negligible unless you're a pro gamer with freakin' overpriced intel i7s and quad-SLI nvidias.

i currently have 0b of RAM in my desktop.. i need hella overpriced DDR3 and everywhere's sold out or out of budget :(

0b? Does it even turn on?

Sorry if I'm wrong, don't know too much about RAM..

Fatal

no, it doesn't turn on. i'm still buying parts for a new desktop.

I have 4gbs of RAM.

ub3r, do you even have windows 64-bit? You /need/ 64-bit to run over 3gbs of RAM.

Ub3r Noob

Duh, I'm using 4GB.

Vista 64 bit

Was just making sure so you didn't waste money. :x A lot of people say they have 4gb of ram and but it's really only reading 3gb. :x
But, yeah, unless you're a hardcore gamer...it's rather unlikely you'd notice any difference at all. It just becomes a waste of money and a "brag factor" after that.

But yea, I'm a hardcore gamer. This is a gaming computer...

not hardcore enough! pretty good, but not enough. :(

Splurge
01-05-2010, 09:30 PM
If you're not overclocking that cpu and you only have that graphics card...chances are you don't need more than 4gbs of ram. :x Don't waste the money.

Lol, what do you consider hardcore?

Splurge
01-05-2010, 09:33 PM
Hardcore is like...bigger, faster cpu and watercooling and overclocking and all kindsa fun things. :x

Overclocking is when you run the CPU faster than it's supposed to, water cooling is exactly what it sounds like (when you overclock the CPU gets real hot)

I don't get why there's such a focus on RAM, to be honest. Unless you're a dual-screen (or more) gamer with an incredibly high end machine playing the most demanding games, then difference between 4-6gb and anything higher is pretty much unnoticeable.

Regardless..... 4gb.

I have 2 GB of RAM but I would like 4 GB because there are certain programs (My Antivirus, Web Browser and some other games I play) take up a bit too much memory for my tastes. Vista needs 1 GB RAM to run and sometimes I see like 85% used up.

Ub3r Noob: What Firefox theme are you using there?

Turn Aero off, it eats up your computer and memory like nothing else.

King Killa: I am not really used to using a Vista Control Panel so I am not sure how I would do that or what you mean for that matter.

Fatal: What would I search for? I tried looking for it and didn't find what I was looking for =\

I thought everyone knew about that by now… you're not using that memory.

It's not default, but to get the theme go here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

and get an add-on called personas (That's exactly how you spell it). Then look dark fox after you download it (click the icon on the bottom left of your browser to look). The add-on comes with thousands of other themes.
