Well, I tried soft resetting for a Kyogre in Emerald once. Once I finally gave up and caught it, the next pokemon I found was Shiny. Damn messed up RNG

Jassie- Either starting a game over and over again to get a shiny starter, or in-game saving before a legendary or something and resetting over and over again until it is a shiny.

Soft resetting is pressing A+B+Start+Select to restart the game. ._.

I've done it in SS, got a Cyndaquil in a day

In addition to this, when you press on the pokeball machine, when you hover over the specified pokemons ball, you can see if it is shiny or not before taking it.

I know, I guess I should have specified that.

Awesome, I never knew that. That definitely saves a lot of time and ups your chances from 1 to 3.

It depends Sango, most reset for a specific shiny starter, i'd take any shiny though and trade it for the one i did want.

Caught a plethora of shinies in my days on various titles, never actually got a shiny starter though, always traded for them.

You know whats wierd?

Everytime I restart Pokemon FireRed on my Gameboy, I always end up finding a Shiny Zubat and training it.

And when i say always, I mean AlWAyS!

I always find one.
