How to Recolor:

Well, here is the way I recolor. There are some pictures here.

Well, firstly find 2 Pokemon, them paste them both on Paint or whatever you're using.

After you've done that zoom in to 400 or 800.

Under the new Paint program in Windows 7/8/8.1 the zooming percentage (%) tool is on the bottom right http://i.imgur.com/qCdNLeY.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/qCdNLeY.jpg)

Once you've done that, this is where it gets tricky. You have to go to the "Pick color" thing and pick a color on the pokemon. If you pick the darker color, fill the dark parts of the Pokemon.

Like so: http://i.imgur.com/VTcUQHU.png (http://i.imgur.com/VTcUQHU.png)

Once you've filled all the darker parts of the Pokemon, it should look like this

After you've done that, do that same with the lighter colors.

After you've done that, it should look something like this

When that's done, do the same with the outline, but don't change the black outline. It'll look like this

After that, make it size 100 and then Save it as a PNG. and after that, you go to imgur (recommended) and upload it.
This is what I ended up with.

Some Useful Tips:

Pick the colour you want to change, using the Pick Color tool. Left-click that colour. Using the same tool (click it again), right-click a colour that you want to change the previous colour into. Example: If the you want to change green to orange, left-click green with Pick Color tool, then right-click orange with the Pick Color tool. Click on the Eraser (which is above the Pick Color), hold on to right click and go over the colour you want to change. It should turn into the colour you want.

sweet just to add a little if you are using gimp use the little 4 blocks thing to select the colour and just do that it makes it so whilst your colouring it wont go into other shades :)

If you want an easy recolor form you can always go to Lunapic.com after you have uploaded a picture onto paint in normal form. Then go to animation go to colors only select one color and it will appear as a picture tainted that color.

For example you take a sprite of a bulbasaur. You save the picture you want to save on paint or whatever program you are using, go to lunapic, upload your sprite, go to animation and click on the color animation only type in one color and you have your recolor. I'll post an example of what it looks like shortly.

i find this way fast since i have every pokemon saved to my home computer and I also think it looks pretty good considering how fast I do it. Lunapic doesn't seem to be working atm.

my computer isn't running lunapic properly but this is what it would look like if you typed in gray... compare those if you would like. If I remember I will get one from lunapic tomorrow; I'll put it animated so you can see all the colors and how they look. :)

That is for lazy people. If you want to make actual, good looking recolors you should just do it by yourself in Paint or any other program suitable for it.
