View Full Version : Cradily help please?

Well, I've decided to raise a Cradily, but I don't know what type of moveset would be good for it. It's gonna be in a 4-man team for double battles, but I haven't got any other pokemon for this team yet. I'll work them out later, once Cradily is ready.

So far, this is what I have.

Cradily
Nature: Impish
Item: Smooth Rock
Moves:
Toxic
Recover
Confuse Ray
Sandstorm

I'm open for any suggestions, and I'll try them all out to see how they work.

Have it hold the Shed Shell and replace Protect with Double Team. Other than that, well done!

Name it. Nao.

Solar Apocalypse

I already named it Rhyzome.

And why Shed Shell?

I already named it Rhyzome.

And why Shed Shell?

So you can switch out after using Ingrain if need be.

Oh, right, I forgot to edit her moveset. It's now Sandstorm, Toxic, Recover and Confuse Ray with the Smooth Rock. Sorry, I thought I edited it. ^-^;

Of course you did. -.-

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 08:04 PM
Seriously, I did. I must've edited my post on another forum. :/

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 08:08 PM
No, I believe you. It just seems that every one of my posts that you read are made useless. :(

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 08:20 PM
o_o Wow, I didn't realize that. Sorry. I'm not trying to do that.

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 08:22 PM
Sure you aren't. <.<

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 08:26 PM
I'm not! Why would I do that?

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 08:28 PM
I dunno. You tell me.

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 08:31 PM
I'm not! T~T

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 08:35 PM
Yeah... I wanna believe you...

But, I don't!

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 08:44 PM
"And then I saw her face, Now I'm a believer. Without a trace, of doubt in my mind!"
First thing that came to my mind.

Anyways, if you don't believe me, oh well.

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 08:49 PM
Nah, I'm just kidding, I believe you (wow this went off-topic).

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 09:10 PM
:P Yeah, it did. XD

BattleDance
12-19-2009, 09:13 PM
So about your Cradily...

Are you sure you shouldn't teach it regular attacks?

Solar Apocalypse
12-19-2009, 11:42 PM
Cradily is more on the defensive side of things. Good defense, and typing, and great Sp.Def, as well as the Sandstorm bonus. That way she can survive long enough for Toxic/Confuse Ray to kill her foe. Still, I'm open to other suggestions.

Well you have to remember that Sandstorm and Confuse Ray (though annoying) don't last forever. Let's say that you runs into a Poke with the Guts ability, or the occasional Own Tempo. Toxic's residual damage takes time to really have an adverse effect on powerful Pokemon (and won't work on commonly used Steel-types like Scizor).

In fact, Scizor pretty much PWNS your strategy, and people use Scizor a lot these days. :hmm:

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 04:11 PM
True, but that's why people can switch out their pokemon. I doubt I'd run into a Scizor that can trap Cradily in battle. And true, Sandstorm doesn't last forever, but after about 8 turns, Toxic, Sandstorm and possibly some Confusion damage begins to add up. And overall, Scizor could own almost ANY Cradily, regardless of the moves.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 04:42 PM
Then you lose a turn. Scizor has high attack stat. If your opponent predicts that you'll switch out, then they could set up for a sweep.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 04:52 PM
So? Every team needs to account for switch-ins. Besides, most Fire Types can destroy Scizor, and don't take any SuperEffective STAB damage from it.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 04:56 PM
Can tell you how many times I've seen a fire-type destroy by a Scizor that had one turn to use a stat-boosting move.

Don't forget about the Baton Passers. Those sets are common too.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 04:58 PM
True, but like I said, every team should account for having to switch in.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 05:03 PM
True, but like I said, every team should account for having to switch in.

I still think you should go with the Ingrain while holding Shed Shell idea.

Opponent is being thrashed about by residual damage, Cradily is chillin' and healin'.

It's the best annoying strategy ever, imo.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 05:06 PM
Maybe. I've also considered Leech Seed. Still, I like my Sandstorm strategy too, and Ingrain doesn't heal that much. I could just as easily use Leftovers.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 05:13 PM
True. Oh and A Zangoose with Scope Lens and Rock Smash messes Cradily in ways not seen.

Now imagine ScopeLens plus Brick Break.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 05:15 PM
Every pokemon has counters. Even Cradily.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 05:23 PM
Yesh, I know that. But if the counters are commonly-used Pokemon, then there's a lot to be considered.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 05:36 PM
True, but I'm using Cradily, not because it's good, but because it's a cool pokemon.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 05:57 PM

I agree...

For a barnacle!

Solar Apocalypse

And me and a friend are having a competition. He's raising Armaldo, I'm raising Cradily, and were gonna battle. (6-on-6, but with the fossils in the team)

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 06:03 PM
That X-Scissor (if used) is gonna destroy your Cradily. <.<

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 06:12 PM
I'm not gonna let Cradily fight Armaldo. I'll wait until Armaldo is dead to let Cradily fight.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 06:17 PM
All fossils, huh?

I suggest Kabutops for the lead.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 06:23 PM
Not all fossils. Cradily is my only fossil.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 06:27 PM
Ah. Good luck, then.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 06:52 PM
Thanks. Won't be hard. He uses a purley offensive strategy.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 06:54 PM
Oh, well then I hope you show him the importance of strategy.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 06:55 PM
I always do. He was really surprised when I used a Skarmory set on him.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 07:01 PM
You didn't use the SkarmBliss strategy, did you?

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 07:04 PM
I used Spikes, Stealth Rock, Roost and Roar and destroyed his entire team with just that.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 07:10 PM
Woah. That's a great strategy.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 07:19 PM
Yeah. And he has no clue how to counter it.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 07:27 PM
Oh wow. Just a Forretress with Rapid Spin.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 07:30 PM
Yep. But he won't use Rapid Spin cause it's a weak attack.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 07:32 PM
I remember when I was like that. There was no strategy to my movesets and I picked the coolest-looking moves for the coolest-looking Pokes.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 07:43 PM
Shuckle with Bug Bite. XD

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 07:46 PM
I didn't know that Shuckle even had teeth.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 07:56 PM
It doesn't. XD

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 08:03 PM
._.; Wow

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:40 PM
Yeah.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 11:41 PM
I never got how Cradily (a barnacle) is a rock and grass type. I woulda went with Grass and water.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:43 PM
Good point. I also wonder why so many people think Shuckle is a Water type.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 11:44 PM
It kinda looks like a turtle and one of its first moves is withdraw, a water type move.

Those are very misleading traits.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:45 PM
I guess so. And it shows up on the water in Pal Park.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 11:48 PM
Never knew that.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:49 PM
Yep. Kinda strange.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 11:51 PM
Indeed.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:55 PM
Flygon looks like a Dragon, a Bug and a Flying type.

BattleDance
12-20-2009, 11:56 PM
Yeah. It's evolution chain is all over the place.

Solar Apocalypse
12-20-2009, 11:58 PM
What makes me laugh is that Trapinch and Flygon have the same base attack.

BattleDance
12-21-2009, 12:01 AM
Once again. Never knew that.
